02002 – How to setup your First Online Course

Now that your Course Portal is set up, you are ready to set up your first course.

To Get Started

  • Go to Members Area and then click on the Online Courses in the left sidebar menu.
    In the Online Courses Dashboard, click on the plus sign (+) on the upper right-hand corner to Create New Course.
    The Course Settings pop-up will open.
  • Simply complete the fields in the Course Settings as indicated below:
  • Course Name
    Add the name of your course
  • Course Description (Optional)
    Add a description for your course
  • Course Image
    Upload your Course Image. This image will be displayed on the Portal Home Page
    Use the dimensions 720 x 400px (JPG or PNG format). When uploading the image, there will be a resize tool.
  • Default Header Image
    Upload your Course Default Header Image. This header image will display at the top of all course pages. When uploading the image, there will be also a resize tool.
  • Set custom image max height
    You may set up your preferred max height, simply turn the toggle ON.
    The option Header Image Max Height will appear.
    By default, it is set to Fixed at 400. However, you may change the Pixels. If you want the image to be elastic which will increase/decrease depending on the size of the browser, you may select Auto from the drop-down.In Auto, the image will resize accordingly.

     

    TIP! To ensure your site loads fast, we do recommend optimizing all your images and headers before uploading them for your courses.

  • Default Course Pages Layout
    You may select the default layout for your course pages. This will apply to all the pages inside the course.
    The default option is the current (boxed).
    + Boxed – Default
    + Wide Top Nav – The items take the full width of the page.
    + Wide Left Nav – This layout will allow you to have the navigation on the left.
    + Wide Left Nav Content Above Image – This layout will allow you to have the wide left navigation with content on top of the image.
    Important: For ALL layouts, the Mobile version of the page will always be the current option (boxed) with the progress tracking and menu below the image. The other layouts are not applicable. You may customize the layout for each course page by going to the left sidebar of the page builder and there will be a new option to select the layout of that page.   • Progress Tracking
    Progress Tracking allows users to track their course progress by marking lessons as complete. Once a course is complete, they get achievements for completing courses. For more details on how this works, visit How to enable the Gamification feature for your courses.
  • Assessment Tracking
    Assessment Tracking allows users to track their assessment progress by taking the assessment set for each lesson. They get achievements for passing each assessment. For more details on how this works, visit How to reward members when they complete quizzes.
  • Certificate
    When enabled, your members will receive a certificate once they completed all their lessons, all their assessments, or both.

More Options

Additional course settings are available on More Options such as Hide Drip options and etc.

  • Hide Drip Feed Pages from Navigation
    Enabling this option will hide all pages with Drip feed from the navigation bar. For more details on how this works, visit How to set up your Content Drip Feed
  • Hide Drip Feed Lessons from Pages
    Enabling this option will hide all Lesson blocks with Drip feed from the Course page. For more details on how this works, visit How to set up a Lesson Block
  • Assign to group
    If you want your new course to be included in a course group, select the group name in the drop-down menu.

  • No Access Redirect
    If a member does not have access to this course, the member will be redirected to the selected page, blog post, or custom URL selected here.
  • Promote on Account Page
    If you want your new course to appear in the Portal Dashboard of customers who have not purchased it, enable this field.
    It will appear under the Some Courses You Might Like section of the Portal Dashboard. Add the URL the customer should go to when they click on the More Info button provided for courses that have not been purchased.
    This URL can link to any page with more information about the course or a sales page.
  • Course Keywords
    Add keywords that will allow your members to find your course.

Once done, click on SAVE CHANGES.

Your new course will now be added to the Online Courses dashboard.
